Azim is an innovation strategy and foresight specialist. Over the last ten years, he has been instrumental in transforming Alpha Catalyst Consulting (ACC) into one of Asia’s leading innovation consulting companies. He has extensive experience in innovation measurement as well as establishing innovation approaches and frameworks within organisations. He has managed many innovation related projects on strategy development, corporate culture change, organisational realignment, mergers and acquisitions.
Azim has played a crucial role in the development of various innovation strategies and roadmaps at a national level. He co-authored the chapter on Stimulating Innovation in Large Organisations for Malaysia’s National Innovation Strategy and was involved in the creation of the Roadmap for Open Innovation initiatives for the Malaysian Multimedia Development Corporation (MDEC). In 2010, he also co-authored Leading InnovAsian: Embedding Innovation Culture in Malaysian Organisations, a book with fresh insights on innovation that has been highly praised by many global corporate leaders. As an Asian Innovation Thought Leader, Azim is regularly invited to speak, write and support initiatives on innovation. He is a sought after speaker at innovation and other conferences held around the Asia Pacific region. He has frequently been featured in discussions about the state of innovation in Malaysia on Astro Awani, a key cable TV channel focusing on business and current affairs. Azim has penned pieces on innovation for The Edge (Malaysia’s foremost business weekly) as well as The Public Listed and MyForesight magazines, the latter being an official publication of the Malaysian Industry Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT). He has also been quoted regularly in many magazine articles about innovation. He was most recently involved in a project for Malaysia’s National Innovation Agency (Agensi Innovasi Malaysia (AIM)), where he helped design and deploy its approach and framework for measuring innovation in large corporate organisations, He also created a framework for AIM to use in calculating the returns on intangible innovation-related investments. Azim can offer clients the best of both worlds: the scientific method from his Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Chemistry, and business savvy gained through an MBA from Keele University in the United Kingdom. He also brings rich insights from his previous work experience at large corporations like PPG, ICI and Alcom.
